Agree Rob. Unfortunate sufferers from that loathsome illness we call "leftism" seem to somehow infect many of the otherwise sane with some of the symptoms of their condition. So much so that, as you imply, a significant majority of the media routinely use the term “Right Wing Extremist” to refer to anyone who fails to profess a sufficient degree of rabid totalitarianism. And we accept this. As “normal”. For some twisted, perverted value of “normal”.

But, in as much as many lipstick liberals pay lip service to the 'language of the left', they don't actually believe it. Any of it. They're just 'going along to get along'. And perhaps they don't really understand that in so doing, they embolden the afflicted.

My Grandfather said, (Seventy years ago - in relation to bullies, “Just rare up on your hind legs and make a noise like a man. They'll back down. Every time.”) I suspect the same approach would work for Lefties.

So why don't we do it?

“To resist the will of others, knowledge of one’s self is most important.” Teal’c of Chulak, Stargate SG-1

Very wise and I loved that series. The issue we have is that sense of self is still very much tied to the "tribe". For example, conservatives like breggin and Diana West are correct about the authoritarian hunt for j6 people and Trump. But they excused the red scare McCarthyism as good because there was soviet spying. I merely replied with the point that any time civil rights are curtailed for a threat, real or fake, it's a step towards authorianism. They don't see it that way, because tribalism trumps the self, but they think it is their real self!

Another good one is the latest Star Trek Strange New Worlds series season where the self is examined in different conditions, both internally and externally.
