For the last 3 years or so, it has been a privilege to post “The Rumble Strip” on Substack. I’ve met some amazing people (virtually) and consider some of them “friends” (virtual, of course).
Over the last year, and especially after the (s)election, my subscribers have dwindled to practically nothing. The interaction in comments has also waned to the point that I don’t even know if anyone is reading. In many cases, I spend a considerable amount of time making sure my opinion pieces are based on facts, and this is time I could better spend doing something else if no one is reading anyway. If I was getting paid for my work regardless of who reads… well, that would be different, but this has been a labor of love in which I’ve never asked for a dime. My compensation has been in “likes” and banter, and since that well has dried up, I’m going to move on.
For those of you who have supported my work through “likes” and comments/banter over the years… Thank You! You have helped me feel “sane” in an insane world.
I don’t plan to discontinue my “Walking the Psalms” podcast on Substack until I’ve completed the task (all 150 Psalms), and that may morph into a platform to share posts based on religious material or something down the road. I haven’t decided yet.
Once this farewell post has been delivered and has been up for about a day, I will be closing The Rumble Strip for good.
Thank you again for your incredible support over the years.
Leave it open for any time you're inspired.
That's what I've been doing. My last post is months ago.
I'm using it as a logbook of things that I've been learning about reality and humanity.
Perhaps one day you'll look back at what you wrote and learn something new. It happens for me here and there.
Hey Rob, thank you for sharing your thoughts and adventures. I am glad to know you, I wish you all of the best and most lovely happiness in the days ahead.
I have also stopped blogging really, no time, and I am not much of a blabber these days.
Love, Rosemary
