I've been pondering the answer to that question for years Rob. Unfortunately, I'm no closer to an answer. Well, other than collectivism and fear of, and this is a strange one, no government.

It's amazing! Even though when the government shuts down because of budget fights and people don't notice any changes they still seem to think that humanity can't survive with being ruled by a government. So, they go on doing what they are told by said government and vote for freedom. Again, if a stranger came to their door demanding the same thing as government in most cases they would reject it outright. Thanks for checking in Rob Dubya!

Fear. Fear of confrontation, fear of penalties, fear of jail, fear of death.

Yes, it always seems so much calmer when the government is "shut down." I always root for it to happen.

No CENTRAL govt., at least. What the HELL do we need that for? It's an open door to abuse of the Peeps. Always. Forever. So, while they plan our demise, for a payoff, we dither and can't imagine anything better... Well, some of us CAN. Show me ONE good reason for a central govt... Cheers, Rob Dubya.

Engaging writing Rob. My answer would be simply that that’s the way western society is currently set up. If we don’t comply with laws we face consequences eg. Fines, prison etc. But what’s the alternative? No government? Just look at California haha. That’s why I think each election we vote for who we think is going to make things better, fairer etc. We try to get the “best” government we can. But changing anything in a significant way, eg. Imagine changing to a flat tax rate of 10% or something. That is never going to happen in the USA. Imagine fixing health care to make it quality and affordable for everyone. That’s never going to happen either. As far as solutions go my solution is to leave. Go and choose a country that has a government with policies you agree with. There are many countries with great health care and fair taxes. Oh but you’ll have to renounce your US citizenship or else you’ll still have to pay the IRS no matter where in the world you live. That’s how greedy the government is. Very interested to see how this next election goes.

My son sometimes asks me why he has to conform to these laws and social “rules”. Why does he have to have a job, work, pay taxes etc. I tell him that’s the way society works. If you don’t like it don’t live in society. The closest thing to that I can think of is the old hippie commune type setup (or a deserted island). People providing for each other, cooking communally, working the land and animals together etc. Creating their own little society. Even then, how does that commune decide who does what chores? Who gets what rations? Does John with 5 kids have to work harder than Fred because he doesn’t have kids. I think probably they would form a “council” of sorts to decide that’s things. In a way, also a form or government. So perhaps wherever people live together you need a government. That government doesn’t have to be corrupt of course, but perhaps that’s also inevitable given human nature. Sorry for the ramble, you got me thinking

I think you sound like a reasonable, intelligent person, but... when we say "that will never happen here" and then move to another country, how would that ever make it happen here? I mean, that's pretty defeatist, isn't it? Did we think things like this are going to be instant, like we've been taught everything should be? How about the kids? The kids of the future, too? Do we just abandon them? We've been trained to be selfish and self-important. Maybe we can start learning how to be self-LESS and more actually patriotic, as in, "Let's save our country and make it better for the FUTURE." And who says when people live together they need a GOVT? Why is that the ONLY choice? Read about the ancient Irish... we need OLD ideas, maybe, not NEW ones? I think WE are the people to make the changes, or at least START them, and WE can accomplish at least a START. Yes?

If we do not pay our taxes we will go to jail.

the US governments would like to force us to comply with many other requests.

Doctors are already being pushed to give vaccines and report non vaccinated.

They do get paid for every vaccine they give, even measles and tdap etc

Young families do not know this.

additionally, new drugs out today, your doctor gets paid to start you on those new drugs.

They are told to tell the patient the drugs are completely safe.

Life is like walking through a mine field.

Yeah, tax revolts only work if you can guarantee that everyone else will stand with you. Individuals are easy to pick off. Since there is absolutely no social trust anymore, I think we're going to be stuck paying taxes for the foreseeable future. Fortunately, there are other ways to fight back.

Good point, Rob. As to why we tend to go along with what the government, Big Pharma and Big Med say is that we've been brought up to respect and believe those in authority and "in the know". They've got a degree and/or a high ranking position so they must know more than we do. They are only concerned about what's best for you. You're too stupid to think for yourself, so don't worry your pretty little head. The government will take care of you. Now line up for the next toxic brew.

I think I could resist a corporation, the standard business type, before the government. They do have F-15s, you know.

Interesting Bandit! (And I remember the F-15s comment from Brandon). So, we aren't afraid of one person but we are afraid of a government trying to control 350 million people? I get it for sure, it's scary saying no to government but I've found that typically we don't even see government "officials" roaming the streets. Though I do know they want facial recognition, drones or whatever to make sure we are doing what we are told. But, for now, we can only imagine how many thousands upon thousands of police, etc would be needed to police us all. I think we all should be living our lives and doing what we know is right without fear. As long as we aren't hurting other people. I plan to continue to say no without fear for as long as I can. If they round me up and put me in a camp or in jail for living my life then oh well. I've also found that we typically police ourselves more than anything by following every edict and command handed down by the cabal. I'll never forget reading a comment one time from some guy that wanted to change a light switch in his home but "I couldn't because it's against the law in my area." Um, how would anyone even know he changed his light switch unless he went and turned himself in? This is just one example of people who are policing themselves and doing whatever government says. I don't participate in any of that kind of stuff. Sometimes I'm inconvenienced for not towing the line but, most of the time, I find myself enjoying stress free liberty by just doing what I want and what I know is right for me without following edicts or commands from the crown. Thanks so much for stopping by Bandit. Always good to see you here! (And please don't take my comment personally, I really wanted to add my comment to pretty much all the comments I read!)
