The last part reminded me of my disgust for municipalities that require permits for protests. That's the most ridiculous idea I've ever heard, and it goes against the values of freedom of speech and freedom of assembly.
I take it you are not a fan of "free speech zones"? lol. I hear you! I want all speech. As long as people aren't physically violent and destroying private property, they can say or do whatever they want, wherever they want (that one is tricky, because I don't think we should be able to take over someone's private property unless the owner says it's okay... but public spaces, where our tax dollars that were taken from us without our consent in most cases? We should be able to freely and safely be able to stand there and say whatever we want)

I’ve been part of the LGBT movement since I was 18, and in three decades, it has sadly gone from being the censored to being the censors. It’s as if we/they have forgotten their roots.
