I was raised Christian, and I went in and out of it for a while, and finally I've accepted that while I'm a Furry Friend of Jesus, I'm not really interested in organized religion. That said, I YAM interested in spirituality, seeking truth and light and goodness, forgiveness, and all the things that we all know are important, because we're Human Beings, and it's built-in (unless you're a psychopath, but that's another story, eh?).
So, for me, going back to something that didn't work for me to begin with doesn't get it; and yet, I find myself feeling FULL OF A DESIRE FOR LIGHT, LOVE, and GRACE. Go figure. ;) And I'm NOT saying you're wrong, or that you should do what I THINK you should do, or anything like that... Just pointing out that it's not black & white... xo
I can't believe you were as bad a you've made out Rob. We've spoken already about where I am with ragrds to the big guy, but as regards to others, you've made a good point here. I can't be the only one who has gone from atheist, to believing in something bigger, and seeing all this for what I truely feel it is. Which is a spiritual battle between good and evil/God and the Devil. I have never read the Bible and I don't knopw how much of it has been corrupted, but the core tenants of morality, love, forgiveness and truth simply cannot be false or corrupted as these things are the antithesis of corruption.
Thanks for your input Rob Dubya! And thanks for actually reading the entire post! (It seems like a few people immediately assumed it was only regarding "religion"). People (religious and non-religious alike) often point to public figures who are persecuted and hated and say, "hmm, that person is hated by the entire establishment, they must be doing something right, they must have some legitimacy." Yet with the New Testament and it's main character (Jesus Christ) people tend to not grant the same legitimacy to him. Jesus was *hated* by the "establishment" of his day. He railed against false "religion" and also pointed out people's blindness to the spiritual war going on. Instead of people supporting him, they killed him for his speech. He did nothing wrong except not participate in some of the ridiculous fake traditions that were fake "laws" of his day. He went around doing good, healing the sick, telling people they should love one another and try to live good lives. And.... he was crucified for it. Shouldn't we, at a minimum, give Him the same consideration as we do today's public figures who are being persecuted for doing nothing other than saying things that the establishment doesn't like? If there's not legitimacy to the religion of the New Testament, why do unbelievers (and even some believers) do everything in their power to destroy it? Thanks again, as always, Rob Dubya!
