As someone who grew up in a family where religious choice was encouraged, I have a hard time understanding the “anti-Christian” hatred that seems to be spreading across what used to be called the “land of the free and the home of the brave”. You know, the country that was supposedly founded on the principle of freedom of religion by people who were fleeing religious persecution. Why is it that many of the very people who seem to abhor anyone who has a belief system outside of their own has nothing but ardent loyalty to the god of government? It’s baffling. Personally, I’d rather take my chances with belief in the invisible God of only 10 laws rather than the very visible and oppressive god of thousands of laws, edicts, commands, rules, dictates, ordinances, and mandates that, in almost all cases, don’t line up with any historical true religion on the planet. That god being, of course, the god of government.
This “brave new world” has replaced what used to be called “church ladies” (or bee hive ladies due to their stiff hairdos) with what are now called “Karens” who are usually wearing a giant face diaper (mask) and have blue, green, or purple hair. These new “church” ladies love to be god’s (the state’s) enforcement arm as they go about preaching the gospel of adherence to, and obedience to, every kind of rule, edict, law, or “mandate” handed down from the government god.
I’ve never seen such deception, ignorance, and just downright stupidity regarding what *real* religious/Christian freedom is about. This peaceful, liberal (yes, I said liberal, which means liberty), and loving religion has been corrupted by the same garbage Jesus was railing about when he walked the earth, but has also been replaced by one of the biggest and most tyrannical false gods in world history!
Let’s just do a quick (but certainly not comprehensive) comparison:
The invisible God of the Holy Bible has 10 laws. Yep, just ten. We are told that the most important of these is: Love the Lord your God with all your heart, all of your mind and all of your strength and (added by Christ) love your neighbor as yourself. That’s it. The only other rules (outside of the main 10 laws) that the invisible God would like people to try their best to uphold are some pretty healthy things like: Practicing a bit of self-control and not having sex with everything that walks the planet when our loins start tingling and being careful not to overindulge in certain things. Believers in the invisible God are *not* necessarily restricted in everything they do, but *are* encouraged to avoid participating in all the same debauchery and (in some cases) immorality as unbelievers because of the trap that that is. In other words, it’s really easy to go down a treacherous, dangerous, and unhealthy path once we let something that we are absolutely free to do take control over us. “All things are permitted, but not all things are beneficial” to our bodies, minds, or souls.
The government god’s laws are listed in the tens of thousands (see the chart below just from 1995 to 2016!). Add to that federal god’s list your state’s laws and your county ordinances and you have a list that is in the multiple tens of thousands!
The invisible God’s 10 laws have stayed the same for thousands of years. All 10 exist in some form or fashion in every culture and/or religion on the entire planet.
The government god’s laws are ever changing and require 100% loyalty and adherence to them in hopes of not being fined into oblivion or being thrown into prison. The government god’s laws are so prolific and complicated that a person cannot avoid breaking some of them in their lifetime in one way or another. These “laws” are not consistent across nations, cultures, or “religions” (and that’s probably a good thing).
The Invisible God’s laws offer a way out. Redemption. Forgiveness. Just by asking from the heart.
The government god requires us to hire outside forces (attorneys) in the *hopes* that we can be “forgiven” for daring to violate the holy sacrament of some obscure law that was made up out of thin air to oppress the people and, in many cases, just to be used to fine people as a money raising scheme to feed the machine. Sacrifice everything to this god in the hopes that you will be “forgiven.”
The Invisible God promises to wipe the slate clean when we mess up. If we have a repentant heart and make a heartfelt attempt to do better.
The government god puts every offense in a record that can and will be held against us at some point in our lives, even if we never make another mistake as long as we live. There will most likely be a time when our dirty laundry will be hung out for some reason or another. Try being a truly rehabilitated convict (misdemeanor or felony) and apply for certain jobs. Good luck.
I guess my point is: Which God is more attractive? My choice is clear. I would much rather choose the God that allows me to live my life the way I want (within reason), doesn’t hold things against me, and truly wants the very best for me from cradle to grave.
Worshipping at the altar of the fake government god is the worst kind of idolatry. The fake promises. The stealing of income without consent. The murder committed by this god in the name of “national security” or whatever other excuse they think up. The thousands upon thousands of edicts, rules, and laws that restrict us from living our lives the way we would like to… The choice, to me, is clear.
Next time you look down on someone who has chosen the Invisible God and you whisper to yourself, “what a lunatic, they are just using religion as a crutch,” take a look at yourself and the gods and crutches in your own life and ask yourself, “which one of us is better off”? If you are honest with yourself, the answer may surprise you.
Awesome. I take the forgiving God any day over the corrupt "god" of rules and regulations!
I think God of the bible’s laws were about how to be a good person. The government laws are about how to be an obedient person. And all hail the Karens who are the most obedient of all. I wonder what government heaven looks like.
