In general, I hate behaviors rather than people. In practice, there are a few people that I sincerely hate because there is no separation between themselves and their behaviors. Adam Shiff, Congressman from California comes to mind. He outright lied to the American people about Russian interference/collusion in the 2016 Trump campaign for President stating he had "evidence" supporting his claim. He did not and was proven a liar by the Mueller Investigation among others. He has not apologized or otherwise explained himself which makes Adam Shiff the human being one and the same as the actions/lies that he enacted.
I do not WANT to hate anyone, but I do believe my own eyes and ears and sometimes the appropriate response is to hate. That extreme emotion, in my opinion, is a survival emotion that should not be ignored.
Thanks Brian. And I'm sure you and most of those reading (hopefully) get my "tongue in cheek" way of looking at hate. I'm definitely not one to walk around filled with hate for people. Haha. But, when it comes to those who are truly doing evil things, those who are really out there telling us the horror they have in store for us (while telling us who we are supposed to, and allowed to) hate... hmm... I reserve a bit of hate for the evil that is in them. Appreciate your comment as always.
I get where you are coming from Rob. I just threw my two cents in because you let me : )
As my past comments may attest to, I don't like to be told what to do or think and short of physical harm the worst offense, IMO, is lying to me. Hence the Adam Schiff reference in my comments.
Really appreciate your writings as they allow me to think through some deeper thoughts so to speak.
I very much enjoyed reading some of the history of your family. Reminded me of the writings of Victor Davis Hanson who reminisced about his childhood on an almond farm in California (he still lives there). If you ever feel inclined to write more about your family's history in Montana, go ahead and do it. I'm sure it will be informative and entertaining.
There has been a conscious effort on behalf of toads like Soros and Schwab, and toadies like Justin Trudeau and Joe Biden, to divide society. With the help of the mainstream media, we are encouraged to hate anyone who might question the narrative, including friends, families, and certain politicians. Meanwhile in the background, the vile excuses for human beings that we should be paying attention to are attempting to impose their totalitarian state. They won't succeed however. They got too greedy too fast. More and more people are finally looking in their direction.
I just subscribed. I wish you allowed comments, as a way to communicate with you. I've never bought a single thing from Amazon. I don't believe Jeff Bezos needs my money. I don't believe he needs as much of anyone's money as he gets. I use mostly cash, unless I want to spend more than I have in my hot little hand. 😉 No one needs to know what groceries I buy. Or much other stuff I buy for that matter. I have a VERY small raised garden. I grow lettuce. I try to grow onions. They never work. I tried to grow garlic this year, it didn't work either. 😞 I got some Kale to raise. Assorted critters have eaten it. `\_(•_•)_/`
Depending on your location, garlic needs to be planted in the fall. A general rule of thumb is between Halloween and Thanksgiving. Onions can be tricky. Some years I have tons, others I get a few. Don't ever get discouraged or feel like your little raised bed isn't worth the trouble. Don't hesitate to reach out if you ever need tips. If I don't know something, we'll find out the answer together. Growing food is very important. :-)
Thanks Bandit. I disabled comments as an aesthetic choice. There are exceptions (like this substack), but the vast majority of comment sections are cesspools. I hate them. Feel free to email directly at mxcollins@gmail.com if you would like to chat more.
I'm not a master gardener yet, but I get better every season. I will be raising my first little flock of chickens in the spring. :-)
I'm glad you don't think the comment section on my stack is a cesspool. Haha. I watch very closely. If I ever see it becoming a cesspool, I step in. I've lost a couple of subscribers because I won't put up with petty BS. I plan to always allow comments. If I ever feel like I can no longer allow comments, I'll stop posting completely.
Just my opinion...There are many things I learn in comment sections that I haven't learned from Substack authors, or the authors reply with more info. Maybe, it's just the stacks I follow, because there are definitely some that are a waste of digital data. --- I'm so jealous! I want some chickens! I live in a neighborhood that doesn't allow them. 😢 Of course, knowing me, they'd mostly be pets. 😂
Thank you. I subscribed (free) to your Substack writing and looked at your website. Inspiring.
I agree with your linked points and will read to keep sharp. Privacy seems like a thing of the past when talking to younger people (including my middle-aged kids). In my opinion no one should be allowed to stalk you online to see what you buy, read or even look at. That data is me and I am not their property.
Thanks! I write about other things besides "seceding", but in my little brain all the seemingly disparate topics on my substack are connected.
Using Privacy Badger is probably the single easiest thing you can do to take control of your data. It will actually tell you who is trying to track you. You'd be amazed out how deep Facebook and Amazon's reach is.
Your Trump anecdote reminds me of something that happened to me in 2016. At that time, I was pretty tuned out from politics, although, when pressed, I would probably have been more likely to vote D than R. I wasn't really following the 2016 presidential race because both candidates seemed sub-par. But somehow, despite not having a TV or participating in social media, I found myself questioning a work colleague who said she was voting for Trump. I said it jokingly, but I meant it: "Myesha, how can you vote for that man? He hates everything you are: a gay, black single mom". She told me that she didn't think that was true at all, and that I should go do my homework. "He will be good for the economy", she said. I never became a huge Trump fan, but I am embarrassed that I had unconsciously imbibed the liberal zeitgeist that this guy was going to be the end of the world, and that I stereotyped my colleague to boot, presuming to ascribe thoughts and values to her, even if it was in a joking context.
I learned. And I guess what I learned most is that when I'm being told to hate something or somebody, there's a larger agenda afoot, and it's not a good one.
Wow Pancake Princess. Thanks so much for your candor. I remember hearing how Trump hated gays and minorities. But then I just started thinking for a minute... (this is me thinking)... "So, this Trump guy owns giant hotels world wide. The employees in those hotels are predominantly minorities and gays who have made him rich. How could he possibly hate those groups of people and be successful?" I completely agree with you... as soon as I start hearing from a politician or the media who I am supposed to hate I have to take a deeper look at them. Thanks again for visiting The Rumble Strip. :)
Trump won an award from the NAACP, I think, it was an organization supporting Blacks, in the 1980s, so my guess is he wasn't out spreading hate about them.
You are so right, Bandit. Trump also increased financial support for HBCUs when he was in office.
I have definitely learned to tune out MSM and to do my own research on everything. My quest for more/better info started with the 2016 election, but the covid fiasco sent it into overdrive :).
My rule is that if the corporate media tells me to hate somebody, that person is probably doing good work.
But seriously though, you're right. Our hate should go to the people who have *openly admitted* that they are trying to reduce our quality of life "for our own good". I'm tired of all the silly personal squabbles. Let's focus on what matters.
Well said Fat Rabbit Iron. I'm glad you got what I was trying to convey. I'm sick and tired of government and media telling me who and what I'm supposed to support and/or hate. I'm going to make up my own mind. And it sounds like you are too. :) Thanks for checking out my post.
“Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.”
I think that you can hate on Trump for his current vaccine stance.
But otherwise he's more liberal than Biden on social issues. But his economics is straight out of the big bankers playbook even if somewhat American orientated than Biden or Clinton.
I've been to Russia many times as well. And nobody there I met liked Putin. I think America and the rest of us are getting a taste of why right now from our own political leaders. Russians were very circumspect about letting you know what they thought as it was essentially a 'hate crime' to not think as the government did.
I agree on the vaccine stance with Trump as well. I've thought a lot about that from the day he started pushing them. The first thing I remember is that he is a business man. As a business man his whole life, he knows about contracts etc. Which leaves me to believe that he either signed something or got paid and that's why he hasn't come out against them. But, this is just me thinking. I have no proof either way. Thanks for visiting Rich. It's been a long time (because of your run for political office).

Brilliant Anna! You nailed it and I believe you really understood what I was attempting to say in my post. Thanks so much for being here again. :)
I think so too. The question is what they will do about it. Voting isn't enough. We have to fight back with lifestyle choices.
...and non-compliance. They hate us when we just blow them off! ;)
True. Interesting name by the way.
It was inspired by one of my cats. :-)
FRI - if you have a minute would you expand on "fight back with lifestyle choices" with what that means to you please?
Sure! I think that we should "secede" -- consciously withdraw from our corrupt culture and refuse to feed the beast. Here are a few ways to do that.

Thank-you for the offer of help! Watch out, I may take you up on it. 😉
I found out about when to plant onions and garlic about a month after I planted them....in June. 🙄 I can still use the greens. 😏

Hadn't heard of Privacy Badger. Checking it out.
Is it a paid subscription? I have a VPN. I'm pretty maxed on paying subscriptions.
The Sam Adams quote is perfect.

Also we hate those who threaten ours. And for some strange reason love spelt backwards sounds like 'evil'.
or, "evolve." ;)
Great post! Could not agree more.
Thanks Gary!
Hmmmm, I think Rural King did have some quail this spring. 🤔 That's a thought to keep in mind.
Would I need to have their wings clipped? And need a house?
