Yes, it's an act, as well as a symbol, of submission.

I think what is sad about it is that if "masking" (whether it worked or not) would have been left up to the public to decide for themselves and would have been presented as a voluntary option to use "if" one thought they may be ill and had to leave their homes etc., most people probably would have adopted it as an option and it wouldn't have been a divisive issue. But, like everything else that has been literally shoved down the throats of the population over the last 18 months, governments and tyrants couldn't help themselves and saw an opportunity to use it as a wedge issue and a means of control. I knew this immediately when it started and was screaming (and still am obviously) to please *don't wear this mask!" I'm sure that most of us have seen people (pre-c19) in airports etc who were wearing masks and no one cared one bit. Now... I become disgusted when I see someone with one on because I know that (in many cases) they are only wearing it out of fear or to "fit in". Thanks for reading my rant. :)

Thanks for writing it-- good piece!

Sad truth is, I've been wearing a mask when ill and having to go out for years, of my own volition! I hesitate now, though.

Our grandkid lives with us, and it galls me to know how well they have accepted it as a necessity.

The masks really are more like muzzles, at this point. Every time we put one on because 'required', we are conceding our right to

self-control

self-discipline

self-expression

self-[fill in blank]

What are we to the powers that be, mad dogs?
